Quincy Jones launched vibe in 1993 , Hip hop became big in America in 1999 and Quincy wanted to enhance this so thats why he launched the magazine .Vibe's launch was also engineered by Len Burnett and Keith Clinkscales and Quincy also shared ownership with Time,Inc .On June 30th 2009,Vibe announced that it was shutting it's doors but soon after intermedia partners bought ownership of the magazine.
Layout of the magazine - I think the layout is quite effective , And placing the picture in the middle makes us more aware of the subject of the magazine , Placing subtitles at the sides makes the picture the main focus and this makes the magazine more attractive to the buyers. The colour scheme used on this front cover is blue,pink and black this gives the magazine a modern look , The font of all the writing is in bold and block capitals to also give the magazine a modernized twist. This magazine is most obviosly aimed at the teenage audience , and the picture of award winning singer/rapper Kanye West makes us aware that it is modern and also a teenage genre magazine.
elements that i would like to use - I like the range of colour in the layout of the magazine , because it attracts eye attention to the magazine. I would quite like to use a simular colour scheme in my magazine with two colours that fit well together. I am going to interpret a bit of the picture format into my magazine because i like the image being placed in the centre to show the main subject and focus.
Q , is a popular music magazine published in the United Kingdom monthly.It features new music releases,film and live concert in the reviews section of the magazine. And this section is all star rated in the magazine so the readers can have an insight into what music releases etc are very popular and what is good and what is bad.Q is also known well for making lists such as "100 greatest albums" and this is where the magazine rates subjects realating with music and again gives readers an idea of what is popular.Q has alot of useful features such as cash for questions where celebrities answer questions from readers and if the question is good enough to be published and answered the reader will receive a cash prize.
This magazine cover has an interesting layout. The picture is focused in the middle to show the main feature of the magazine. Lily Allen is in the picture and she is a huge modern artist of today and she is highlighted in the middle of this cover with her picture and also the black and white writing.This colour combination matches in with the colours of Lily's clothes to give the magazine a stylish and sheek look. Other features is the Q logo in the left hand top corner , it is big and bold to draw eye attention and to show that it is the main focus. In the top right hand corner sub headings are placed, and band's names are highlighted in colour to show their importance on this magazine also.
